Dental Assisting (PADA)

Welcome to the Pahrump Academy of Dental Assisting!

Pahrump Academy of Dental Assisting is an institution developed as an effort of Dr. Albert G. Ruezga. He recognized the need for well-trained, efficient chairside dental assistants and found difficulty in attracting good assistants throughout their years in practice. Pahrump Academy of Dental Assisting will help prepare interested persons in becoming part of the dental profession and assuming a position as a well-respected professional.

Dental Assisting Curriculum - 128 Clock Hours

The Dental Assisting program involves eleven weeks of hybrid, online and “hands on” training where students have an opportunity of practicing the various routines of chairside assisting. At the completion of the eleven-week portion of the training, the students must successfully complete a 50-hour externship in a local dental office. Upon completion of the eleven week program, the 50 hour internship and all financial obligations to the school discharged/satisfied, only then can the grades, transcripts or certificates be awarded.

Classes are held on Saturdays from 8:00am - 3:00pm with a half-hour lunch break. Located at the office of Pahrump Family Dental, 2340 E. Calvada Blvd Suite #1.

Faculty and Staff

Dr. Albert G. Ruezga, DDS, Director

Dr. Albert G Ruezga received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University Of California San Francisco School Of Dentistry, in 2001. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Nevada Dental Association, Southern Nevada Dental Society, and is certified in dental implants. In 2001 Dr. Ruezga won the International Congress of Oral Implantologists Award as well as the Northern California Academy of Endodontics Student Award. Dr. Ruezga is committed to excellence by providing compassionate care in a state of the art facility.

Jacob Blodgett, Instructor

Mr. Blodgett earned his Certificate in Dental Assisting from the Southern Nevada Academy of Dental Assisting, and finished formal training under Dr. Albert G. Ruezga at Pahrump Family Dental. He rose to the position of Back Office Supervisor in just under 4 years, while earning his certification in Cad-Cam Dentistry from the Institute at D4D Technologies in Dallas, TX. He continues to further his education in Cad Cam Dentistry and attends the College of Southern Nevada, working toward a degree in Photography, as well as Creative Writing—two things he is very passionate about. Whenever Jacob is not busy furthering his education, he is usually volunteering wherever he can, participating in the Relay for Life events for more than three years as a team leader, charity fundraising events for Nathan Adelson Hospice, and helping out at his church whenever possible. Jacob has always loved to teach and to pass on the knowledge that has been awarded to him and he has taken great pleasure in training new assistants at Pahrump Family Dental whenever there is a new recruit. It is because of this reason that teaching eager minds at the Pahrump Academy of Dental Assisting is such a source of personal fulfillment for Mr. Blodgett.
